RubberStampMadness is celebrating our 30th Anniversary in 2009. While other stamping
magazines come and go, we are here to stay.
However, we are looking at a change. RSM will become a quarterly
magazine--four issues per year, instead of six. While we regret dropping
the number of issues, our main goals are not changing. Each issue
will be full of artwork, techniques, information, inspiration and
fun--everything you've come to expect and want in a rubber stamping
publication.
Looking ahead, here's the schedule for
the remainder of 2008 and 2009:
* RSM's next issue will cover a three-month period: Nov./Dec. and
Jan. If you have a subscription, your copy will arrive in mid-to-late
October. Copies will be available for sale through this website
in mid-October. If you purchase your copies at a store, expect
to find copies there in late October.
* Each issue after that will also cover a three-month period, starting
with SPRING 2009, followed by SUMMER, FALL and HOLIDAY issues.
The reason for the change is the fact that the rubber stamp industry
has been adapting to lower sales for a while. At RSM this has meant
fewer advertising pages and, sadly, fewer subscribers. Subscriptions
are a big plus for magazines and keep us strong. If you haven't
subscribed already, please do.
In recent years, to make sure incoming revenue matched outgoing
revenue, we've not replaced staff who retire or leave; we moved
to a smaller office space and took other cost-saving measures.
Printing is the biggest expense in our budget. The way printing
costs are calculated, the most expensive work is done before pages
go on presses. (It's more cost-effective to do fewer issues with
more pages, rather than more issues with fewer pages.) This change
gives us plenty of time to produce a healthy, informative, joyful
magazine for all. Plus, we'll have time to finish the work on our
Scenic Stamping book and get that printed for your viewing pleasure.
We welcome your comments and plan to continue to be stamping along
with you for many more years to come.
Sincerely and stampingly,
Roberta Sperling (aka Rubberta Stampling)
